Colour Essays

This is a creative interpretation of Six Sigma, where the focus is to minimize defects and variability. In this approach, using consistent technique and style, the goal is to exploit the variety of colour palettes with a fixed composition. Compositions are derived from rural landscapes in Pas de Calais, Dorset, Southeastern Ontario and Southeastern Iowa. Canvas panels and acrylic paints serve well for both Plein-Air and studio work. Consistent elements for the show include: the use of warm tones, defined horizon lines, linear structure, minimal color sets, and theatrical display of hue. There is a connection to the foundational elements of perspective and growth, that can be transferred to landscapes. Experience lends to capturing a moment in time, a connection to the changing dynamic of nature, the connections and relationships we seek to understand.
