As the Crow Flies Studio
Prince Edward County, Ontario

Candice Woodard is an artist in Prince Edward County who is inspired by patterns, textures and seasonal colour changes of the countryside, always striving to capture the beauty of light-filled landscapes in a painterly style. She draws inspiration from the beautiful PEC countryside, Sandbanks Provincial Park and the amazing PEC skies.
Candice’s primary medium is dry pastels as they offer deep rich colours and have a beautiful luminosity. Pastels are a tactile medium with a direct connection to both pigment and paper. One can draw or paint with pastels, making them very versatile.
Candice has achieved success in juried art competitions, (Art in the County and Pastel Artists of Canada) and has participated in the annual PEC Arts Council Studio Tour. Candice received a Juror’s Choice Award for her pastel piece “Across the Meadow, Waking Creatures Stir” at the 2023 edition of Art in the County.
In 2024 two of her paintings were selected to be hung in Rideau Hall, the Governor General’s official residence, in Ottawa. The buyer commented, “We’ve been looking for country landscape pieces across Canada, the simplicity of the View of East Lake seemed like a view that everyone can relate to when driving down a country road. I really enjoyed the balance and contrast used in the painting as well.”
