As the Crow Flies
Candice Woodard is an artist in Prince Edward County who is inspired by patterns, textures and seasonal colour changes of the countryside, always striving to capture the beauty of light-filled landscapes in a painterly style.

Candice grew up in the country and although spending most of her adult life in an urban setting, the connection with nature never left her. She draws inspiration from the beautiful PEC countryside, Sandbanks Provincial Park and the amazing PEC skies.

Candice’s primary medium is pastels as they offer deep rich colours and have a beautiful luminosity. Pastels are a tactile medium with a direct connection to both pigment and paper. One can draw or paint with pastels, making them very versatile.

In the last 2 years, she has begun to explore painting semi-abstract landscapes using multi-media (acrylic paints, inks and collage), working intuitively and building up textured layers.

Since 2018, Candice has achieved success in juried art competitions, (Art in the County and Pastel Artists of Canada) and has participated in the annual PEC Arts Council Studio Tour. Candice received a Juror’s Choice Award for her pastel piece “Across the Meadow, Waking Creatures Stir” at the 2023 edition of Art in the County.

Candice is a member of the Pastel Artists of Canada Association (PAC Signature Status), and Prince Edward County Art Council.
