Since 2011, Diane has resided in Prince Edward County. “I feel so very fortunate to have my studio under the hickory beams of an 1853 settler’s home, surrounded by acres of natural beauty. This landscape is alive with light, colour, texture and bird song, all of which stimulate and inspire me.”
Initially, Diane’s painting was representational, and focused on capturing the disappearing rural countryside of Prince Edward County. More recently she has been captivated by the possibilities of abstract mixed media. Countless studio hours are spent building one-of-a-kind collections of hand printed papers, created through mono printing, hand carved linocut blocks and mark making. They are sorted by value, hue and texture, cut to specific shapes, and layered intuitively alongside acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, inks and subtle washes.
Diane has studied with the late Franklin (Archie) Arbuckle, OSA, RCA, in Killarney, Ontario, Kato Wake at Baxter Arts Centre in Bloomfield and online, and at the Haliburton School of Art and Design. A former member of the Willowdale Group of Artists, she was awarded “Honorable Mention” at a juried show by the late and distinguished artist/juror Doris McCarthy.
Diane is a current member of the Prince Edward County Art Council. Her work has qualified and sold in their annual Art in The County juried show. Paintings also available to View by Appointment.
