Canadian sculptor Tom Ashbourne is known for creating captivating works in stone, mixed media, and metal, where timeless elegance meets modern abstraction. Guided by an innate curiosity and a natural ability to think in three dimensions, Ashbourne shapes raw materials into compelling sculptures. His deep appreciation of shape, textures, and balance infuse each sculpture with unique energy, power and passion.

In Tom’s words “ As an artist I naturally think in 3D, a rare gift, and use the skills that made me a successful executive –analytic skills, lateral thinking, listening, and being open to different ideas and possibilities.”

Unlike other art forms, sculpture is inherently reductive, requiring full spatial resolution and a dynamic relationship with light coming from all directions. Tom’s lifelong passion for collecting and appreciating art influenced his artistic eye, sense of balance, and appreciation of texture, shapes, and colour. 

A respected figure in the Canadian art community, Ashbourne is an Elected Member of the Sculptors Society of Canada (SSC), Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), Ontario Society of Artists (OSA), elite organizations for professional artists, and member of City of Pickering Public Art Jury.
