“My approach to watercolour is somewhat more controlled than more traditional work in the medium. Less wet on wet technique is used and deep colours are achieved by applying multiple layers of transparent washes. I am looking for a sense of realism with textures and contrasts. The subjects I choose are often old buildings or objects that may be disappearing with time. My paintings are a form of preservation and I hope they evoke pleasant memories.”
